In the heat of Summer we eagerly await the cool breezes and changing colours of Autumn. Then as Autumn retires and the leaf piles collect, we prepare for the magic of wintery frosts, yellow lampposts, the smell of open fires and hot chocolate. I’m not a landscape artist but arriving in the UK one windy, leafy October convinced me I would become a tree painter alongside my usual architectural painting subjects. It was unavoidable. In University Parks, Oxford, the door of Autumn slowly closes as winter sleepily takes over and nature rests.
